Episode 149: The Weird and Wonderful Side of Teamwork with Cerys Goodall
In this episode of The Future of Teamwork, Dane Groeneveld interviews Cerys Goodall, Chief Operating Officer at Vetster and founder of The Goods, about technology, communication, and how the world is changing today with the advancement of AI. Cerys shares her journey from PR pro working on NASA missions to tech operator building healthcare and pet care platforms – and how her “unconventional” path gives her a unique edge in leading people.
Together, they explore how curiosity, emotional clarity, and a clear sense of mission are reshaping what it means to lead and build modern teams. They cover how to hire and coach for emotional intelligence and values, why celebrating the “weird and wonderful” leads to stronger, more authentic teams, and how fear masquerades as ambition – plus how to shift away from it.
Cerys’s insights will leave you rethinking how you hire, lead, and inspire in today’s workplace.

Guest Bio
Cerys’ career didn’t follow a traditional trajectory—no university degree, no MBA, no early career in consulting. Instead, she dropped out of university and found herself working in biotech, learning about microfluidics and the science of blood during night shift in a lab. That love of complexity combined with an unstoppable curiosity, led her to pivot into public relations, where she began helping some of the world’s most innovative companies translate big ideas into resonant narratives.
From biotech to aerospace, publishing to digital health, Cerys built a career crossing industries and disciplines. She led global communications for defense training companies working with military clients around the world, helped tell the story of NASA’s Discovery Return to Flight for her client Neptec, launched Kobo’s global communications strategy as it took on Amazon, and later shaped the brand and marketplace for LEAGUE in its early years, building out marketing, product-market fit, and go-to-market playbooks. Over time, what started as strategic communications evolved into CMO and then into operational leadership at InnerSpace where she led deployments for Fortune 500 companies like Microsoft, PWC, Airbnb and Compass Group.
Today, as the COO of Vetster, one of North America’s fastest-growing pet health platforms, Cerys draws on that mosaic of experience to lead the company’s strategic planning, marketplace operations, customer experience, HR, and cross-functional execution.
